“…Fleischman does a fine job of explaining the relationship between a blind person and her guide dog…”
—Publisher’s Weekly
The relationship between a blind person and her canine companion is explored in this charming and informative tale of a playful young dog. Nadine, the working dog, never forgets her job is to be the eyes for her owner. But that doesn’t mean she can’t have fun! She delights in playing and certainly seems to find lots of opportunities for mischief.
In this true story told through a first-person narrative, a sight-impaired young woman describes how Nadine loves to pull the dirty laundry out of the hamper, leaving a trail throughout the house. It even sounds as if Nadine is laughing as her owner cleans up the mess! Their first day together as a team begins as they get ready to venture outside. From the struggles to get ready, to the sheer enjoyment of the winter day, to the scary moments along the way, Nadine proves herself trustworthy and reliable. That is until they return home and she gets into mischief again!
