Dusk falls across the bayou as the crickets chirp, snakes hiss, and mosquitoes buzz. Mama rocks her baby to this soft symphony of sounds, a gentle lull of sweetly repetitive animals making noise, ready for bedtime.
Illustrated in brilliantly detailed and textured cut paper, this simple stroll through the swampy wilderness introduces children to animal sounds as they fall into peaceful slumber in the warm embrace of their loving mother. An introduction to onomatopoeia, the flora and fauna of the bayou, and a glossary of terms are among the educational aspects of this melodious story.
