Cassandra Vivian is a columnist, educator, lecturer, photographer, and author of more than twenty books. She served as the chairperson of the English department at Cairo American College and has fifteen years of experience teaching college-level English. During her time in Egypt, she became fascinated by the country, its geography, and its customs, and began researching and doing photography work in the Middle East. After returning to the United States, Vivian redirected her passion to focus on different aspects of her life: her home state of Pennsylvania and her Italian heritage.

She has donated more than 20,000 slides and one hundred artifacts from the Western Desert of Egypt to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, in an exhibit called the Cassandra Vivian Collection.
Vivian earned her master’s degree in English and speech from the California University of Pennsylvania, and has more than sixty credits from Richmond, the American International University in London and the American University in Cairo.
