Sylvester Breard is a direct descendant of the early French founders of Monroe, Louisiana, and his family has been an integral part of Monroe history for five centuries. He served as the advertising and promotion manager for Louisiana Machinery Company, Inc., for more than thirty years.
Breard is a participant in the Little Theatre of Monroe and a barbershop quartet and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than twenty-five years. During his membership in the Jaycees (the United States Junior Chamber), he received the honor of Best Ad Plan for the Southeast United States. In addition, he is a member of the American Legion and has made several historical presentations to the group.
A former college professor, Breard earned a BA and an MA in speech from Louisiana State University. He is a member of the English-Speaking Union and lives with his wife in Monroe, Louisiana.
