Cathy Kaemmerlen is an award-winning actress, storyteller, and historical interpreter with decades of experience performing in schools across the country. Her humorous portrayals of history and science facts delight audiences of all ages. Itty Bitty Betty, the storytelling honeybee and main character of her book The Buzz on Honeybees, is one of Kaemmerlen’s most popular creations. Her fascination with bees began with her own hands-on experiences with beekeeping.
Kaemmerlen received a BA in English and elementary education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and MFA in dance performance and choreography from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She served as a creative dramatics and storytelling teacher at Mill Springs Academy in Georgia, a dance instructor at Chapman College in California, and a dance teacher at Fine Arts Center in South Carolina.
Kaemmerlen has been the featured storyteller at festivals throughout the South and is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Southern Order of Storytellers, the National Storytelling Network, and the Women’s Imaginative Guild of Storytelling. When not writing or performing, she enjoys dancing, biking, sewing, gardening, reading, and going to the theater. Kaemmerlen resides in Marietta, Georgia. |
