Steve Kelley served three decades as staff political cartoonist for the San Diego Union-Tribune and the New Orleans Times-Picayune. His award-winning cartoons are syndicated in more than 320 newspapers, including USA Today, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, and Time. Kelley is also the co-creator and principle writer for the comic strip Dustin, which won the National Cartoonist Society’s 2011 Reuben Award for Best Newspaper Comic Strip.
Not content with amusing people in print, Kelley writes and performs comedy, a pastime that has led him to seven appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. He has performed at Harrah’s, the Desert Inn, Trump Plaza, and Carnegie Hall. Kelley is the founder of Funny Money and 1000 Laughs for 1000 Smiles, annual comedy events dedicated to children’s charities. Kelley lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, with his thirteen-year-old son, Hayden—about whom he brags without regard to the listener’s interest.
