John Uglesich is the grandson of Uglesich's Restaurant founder Sam Uglesich, and he is the son of the current owners, Gail and Anthony. Growing up, he
watched his parents work long, hard hours to grow the business into the
critically acclaimed restaurant it is was before its closure in 2005. John's
father, Anthony, was known for telling customers the straight truth about his
seafood. John's mother, Gail, would wake daily at 4:30 a.m. to prepare sauces, crab cakes, casseroles, gumbo, and other specialties.
John Uglesich manages stock portfolios for several companies and family members and has served as editor of the Crescent City Investor's Report,
a monthly stock newsletter. He has lived in New Orleans all his life and is a
graduate of De La Salle High School and Tulane University. Though people
frequently ask whether John and his sister, Donna, will work in the restaurant business, both have chosen to work in other fields—a decision their parents respect. John resides in Cordova, Tennessee.
